About Bo'ness means Business

Bo'ness means Business was originally constituted in 2002 to represent the views, aspirations and needs of local businesses to local government, government agencies and the Scottish Executive.

Origins

BmB has its orgins in the now disbanded Bo'ness Traders Association which for various reasons ceased its operations.

It was widely agreed that a new organisation was needed to represent both town centre traders and the wider interest of businesses not located primarily in the centre of the town but were either had their base in or were operating from Bo'ness and the surrounding areas.

Partnerships

The group was setup with support from TCM (Town Centre Management) and supports the activities of TCM in promoting Bo'ness Town Centre retailers through attracting increased footall to the town.

Activities, progress & development

Since 2002 BmB has been actively involved in a number of activities both improving the town and supporting local business through participating (with TCM) in

• events management in the town centre

and by formulating and presenting

• water charges petition to Scottish Executive (2003)
• presenting submission to public enquiry in support of development plans for building planning permission on foreshore (2003)

Future...

Bo'ness means Business will continue to identify, formulate ideas, address issues affecting the economic prosperity of the businesses in the town and relay these concerns, support and suggestions to the appropriate authorities.
