Bo'ness Forum meeting - 16 March 2006
THI (Townscape Heritage Initiative) manager, George Paterson gave an outline of the current position in the THI project.
The main focus of his presentation was the grant application process available to owners of buildings in the heritage area. He indicated that he was available to help applicants and that there had been a pack produced to support and outline the necessary criteria for any application.
THI office, North Street
He would be available in the newly opened THI office in North Street where the application packs could also be obtained.
Hippodrome
He also gave a progress report on the Hippodrome and gave an outline of the timescale. The funding was in place and internal refurbishment work was expected to get underway in April/May.
He empahasised that no firm end use had yet been agreed and would be subject to consultation with all interested parties.
BmB meeting
As the Forum meeting fell on the same night as the regular BmB meeting it had been agreed at the previous meeting to have a delegation attend the Forum as the THI affected almost all members.
It had been identified that the Hippodrome was an integral part of the THI and a number of uses had been identified. It was agreed that a report should be prepared (outlining the groups views) and be raised at the Forum meeting.
During open questions Rob Willox, Chairman, outlined the groups interest and highlighted the main points of the report.
Tourist Information Centre (TIC)
One of the main uses identified was as the TIC and the suggestion was generally accepted as one which should be further investigated.
